NCS, SEC, NGX Group Chairman, Muda Yusuf Headline FiBOP 2026 Conference on Nigeria’s $1 Trillion Economy Agenda

All is now set for the 2026 Annual Conference and Awards of the Finance and Business Online Publishers Association, FiBOP, as top regulators and key drivers of the nation’s economy confirm participation for the high-level economic summit scheduled to hold on October 17 and 18, 2026 at Orchids Hotel, Lekki, Lagos.

The conference, which is one of the most anticipated gatherings of finance and business editors in the country, will focus on how to fast-track Nigeria’s ambition of becoming a $1 trillion economy through effective synergy in taxation, industrial growth, insurance, fintech, trade and investment.

Giving a major boost to the credibility of the summit, the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, and the Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Dr. Emomotimi Agama, have both confirmed that they will participate in the two-day event.

The involvement of the Nigeria Customs Service is seen as very strategic because of its central role in trade facilitation, port reforms, revenue generation and the implementation of government fiscal policies. Similarly, the participation of SEC is expected to provide clear insights into capital market regulation, fintech oversight, investor confidence and how to mobilize long-term funds for national development.

The 2026 edition will be chaired by renowned economist and Chief Executive Officer of the Centre for the Promotion of Private Enterprise, Dr. Muda Yusuf. As a respected voice in economic policy advocacy, Dr. Yusuf is expected to steer discussions on the real challenges facing the private sector, especially around taxation, competitiveness and ease of doing business.

Also expected as Special Guest of Honour is the Chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Group, Alhaji Dr. Umaru Kwairanga. His presence will bring to the fore issues around capital market deepening, listing of more companies, market liquidity and the role of the Exchange in raising capital for industries.

Beyond Customs and SEC, other major institutions have also thrown their weight behind the conference. They include the Nigerian Communications Commission, the Nigerian Insurers Association, the News Agency of Nigeria, Zenith Bank and Polaris Bank. Their participation will broaden the conversation to include telecoms growth, insurance penetration, financial inclusion and the stability of the banking system.

Organizers of the conference said more confirmations are still being expected from leading insurance companies, fintech firms, trade associations and investment promotion bodies across the country.

According to FiBOP, the conference will not only feature plenary and breakout sessions but will also create platforms for networking between regulators, operators, investors and the media. The highlight of the event will be the FiBOP Awards ceremony where distinguished individuals and institutions who have contributed significantly to economic growth, financial innovation and business development will be honoured.

The association commended the leadership of the Nigeria Customs Service, SEC, NGX Group and other partners for identifying with its vision of promoting sound economic journalism and national development dialogue.

With the calibre of confirmed guests and the relevance of the theme, the 2026 FiBOP Conference is expected to attract stakeholders from finance, trade, Customs, capital market, insurance, technology and the media who will chart a new course for Nigeria’s journey to a $1 trillion economy.
