Rivers Pastor Dies After Collapsing Mid-Sermon at Community Funeral

What was meant to be a day of mourning for a deceased community member turned into a scene of unimaginable tragedy in Aleto, Eleme, Rivers State, on Friday, October 2. A funeral service was thrown into chaos when the officiating minister, Deacon Steve Eyo, collapsed and died mid-sermon

PM News reports that the cleric had attended the funeral and was preaching on the topic-“The Certainty of Death and Hope Beyond.”
Eyewitnesses said the cleric told the mourners that death was certain and cannot be avoided, adding that everyone must pass through it, and that death is like going to the market. The cleric was quoted to have said that some people leave the market early, while others stay until late. In the same way, some people d!e early, while others live longer, adding that death can come when we least expect it.
However, 15 minutes into his sermon, the cleric suddenly fell down, with the microphone landing on the floor with a loud sound.
At first, some people thought he was demonstrating how suddenly death can happen, because he had just been talking about death until it was obvious that it was a serious matter.
He was quickly taken to the back while the church choir and ministers gathered around him and prayed. Some people with medical knowledge also gave him first aid.
One of them later said that his breathing had stopped. He was then rushed to the nearest hospital in the same ambulance that had been hired to carry the remains of the deceased.
It was at the hospital that the cleric was confirmed dead and taken to the mortuary.
